University College Cork

WE, THE GOVERNING BODY OF UNIVERSITY COLLEGE, CORK, under and by virtue of the powers in that behalf conferred on us by the above Act, do by this present instrument under the seal of University College, Cork make the Statute contained in the Schedule hereof for the general government of the said College.

Given under the Common Seal of University College, Cork this Second day of July, 1996.

Statute 174

Schedule

Statutes 1 to 173 of University College, Cork shall be read and construed with the additions, modifications and amendments hereinafter set forth.

CHAPTER I.
Professorship of Spanish

1. The provisions of this Chapter shall henceforth apply to the Professorship of Spanish, established by Statute 64, Chapter III.
2. Commencing with the next appointment to the Professorship of Spanish, the said Professor shall be Head of the Department of Spanish for a period of at least five years. In the event of the Governing Body determining, by the making of a Statute or Regulation or otherwise, that new arrangements shall apply to the appointment of the Head of the Department of Spanish, the holder of said Professorship shall thenceforth have the obligation of acting as Head of the Department of Spanish for such period or periods as the Governing Body may decide.
3. • (a) The duties of the Professor shall be to lecture in Spanish for all degrees, diplomas and certificates of the University and for all diplomas and certificates of the College. In the event of a revised arrangement in regard to the appointment of a Head of Department referred to in section 2 applying, the Professor shall carry out the lecturing duties under the general direction of the Head of the Department of Spanish. The Professor shall also examine in Spanish for the College and, if required by the Senate to do so, for the University.
   • (b) Statute 64, Chapter III., section 3, is hereby deleted.

CHAPTER II.
Department of Zoology and Animal Ecology

The Department of Zoology shall henceforth be known as the "Department of Zoology and Animal Ecology"

CHAPTER III.
Lectureship in Bacteriology

The provisions of Statute 162, Chapter VIII., are hereby deleted.

CHAPTER IV

1. This Statute shall be construed with and as part of Statutes 1 to 173 of University College, Cork and may be cited as Statute 174 of University College, Cork or Stat. 174 of Univ. Coll. Cork.
2. This Statute will come into operation on the Second day of July, 1996.
