Statute 156.
Irish Universities Act, 1908
University College, Cork
We, the Governing Body of University College, Cork, under
and by virtue of the powers in that behalf conferred on us by
the said Act, Do by this present instrument under the Seal
of University College, Cork, make the Statute contained in
the Schedule hereof for the general government of the said
College.
Given under the Common Seal of University College, Cork, this eighteenth day of December, 1990.

Statute 156.
Schedule
Statutes 1 to 155, of University College, Cork shall be read and construed with the additions, modifications and amendments hereinafter set forth.
CHAPTER I.
The Academic Council
Statute 1, Chapter X., section 2, is hereby amended by the deletion of the first sentence and its replacement by the following:
"Ordinary meetings of the Academic Council shall be held at
least once a term during each Session".
CHAPTER II.
Professorship of General Practice
- The Professorship of General Practice, established by Statute 141, Chapter IV., shall be deemed to be in the Department of Family and Community Medicine.
- In the event of a further full-time Professorship or further full-time Professorships being created in the Department of Family & Community Medicine the Governing Body shall, in accordance with the terms of Statute 140, Chapter I., appoint one of the full-time Professors as Head of the Department for such period or periods as the Governing Body may decide or until the appointment shall have been terminated by the Governing Body. In that event, the Professor of General Practice shall carry out the duties of the Professorship under the general direction of the Head of the Department appointed by the Governing Body.
CHAPTER III.
Jean Monnet Professorship of European Integration Studies
- There shall be established in the College, in the event of its institution by the National University of Ireland, a Jean Monnet Professorship of European Integration Studies.
- The said Professorship shall be in the Department of Modern History and shall be a part-time, non-pensionable office.
- The first holder of the Professorship shall be the present
holder of the Lectureship in Modern History No. 2, established
under the terms of Statute 125, Chapter II., section I, as amended,
who shall hold the part-time Professorship in conjunction with the
office of Lectureship.
- The stipend of the Professorship shall be such sum that, when
added to the stipend of the full-time Lectureship, results in the total
of the two stipends being equal to that provided in Statute 132
Chapter I., section 4(a), as amended.
- The duties of the said Professorship shall be to lecture in
European Integration Studies, under the general direction of the
Head of the Department of Modern History, for all degrees,
diplomas and certificates of the University and for all diplomas and
certificates of the College. The Professor shall also examine in
European Integration Studies for the College, and if required by the
Senate to do so, for the University. He/she shall, in addition,
discharge such other duties appropriate to the office as shall be
assigned to him/her by the Head of the Department of Modern
History.
- The said Professorship shall be tenable for a period of seven
years, commencing on the date of coming into operation of this
Statute; in the event of there being successive holders of the
Professorship, it shall be tenable for the periods of office of such
holders subject to the total of such periods not exceeding seven
years.
- Subject to the other provisions of this Chapter, the said
Professorship shall be tenable upon the same conditions and the
holder thereof shall be subject to the same duties and obligations as
if the said Professorship had been included in Statutes 1 to 155 of
University College, Cork.
CHAPTER IV.
Department of Accounting, Finance and Information Systems
The Department of Accounting and Finance shall henceforth be
known as the Department of Accounting, Finance and Management
Information Systems.
CHAPTER V.
Lectureship in Management Information Systems
- With the consent of the present holder of Lectureship in
Statistics No. 3, established by Statute 142, Chapter V., said
Lectureship shall henceforth be known as "Lectureship in Management Information Systems", and shall be deemed to be in the
Department of Accounting, Finance and Management Information
Systems.
- The duties of the Lecturer shall be to lecture in Management
Information Systems, under the direction of the Head of the Department of Accounting, Finance and Management Information Systems,
for all degrees, diplomas and certificates of the University and for
all diplomas and certificates of the College. The said Lecturer shall
also examine in Management Information Systems for the College
and, if required by the Senate to do so, for the University. The
Lecturers shall, in addition, discharge such other duties appropriate
to the office as shall be assigned to him/her by the said Head of the
Department of Accounting, Finance and Management Information
Systems.
- This Statute shall be construed with and as part of Statutes 1
to 155 of University College, Cork and may be cited as Statute 156 of University College, Cork or Stat. 156 of Univ. Coll. Cork.
- This Statute shall come into operation on the eighteenth day
of December, 1990.
