Statute CLIII. (153)
Irish Universities Act, 1908
University College, Cork
We, the Governing Body of University College, Cork, under
and by virtue of the powers in that behalf conferred on us by
the said Act, Do by this present instrument under the Seal
of University College, Cork, make the Statute contained in
the Schedule hereof for the general government of the said
College.
Given under the Common Seal of University College, Cork, this twenty-seventh day of February, 1990.

Statute CLIII. (153)
Schedule
Statutes I. to CLII., (1 to 152), of University College, Cork shall
be read and construed with the additions, modifications and amendments hereinafter set forth.
CHAPTER I.
Professorship of Clinical Pharmacology
- There shall be established in the College, in the event of its
institution by the National University of Ireland, a Professorship of
Clinical Pharmacology.
- The said Professorship shall be a full-time office within the
meaning of the Statutes of the College and of the University.
- The duties of the Professor shall be to lecture in Clinical
Pharmacology for all degrees, diplomas and certificates of the University and for all diplomas and certificates of the College. The
Professor shall also examine in Clinical Pharmacology for the
College and, if required by the Senate to do so, for the University.
- The said Professorship shall be tenable only by a member of
the medical staff of a teaching hospital or hospitals recognised by
the College and the University in which the Professor of Clinical
Pharmacology has, as a right, the control of an adequate teaching or
professional unit of beds, both male and female, and holds hospital
consultant status.
- The annual stipend of the Professorship shall be such proportion, as shall be determined by the Governing Body, of the total
remuneration determined by the Governing Body and the relevant
hospital authority or authorities to attach to both the appointment
as professor and the appointment or appointments as hospital
consultant, said total remuneration to be determined having regard
to the annual stipend applicable to full-time Professorships in
clinical medical subjects added to the appropriate remuneration
applicable to the relevant whole-time hospital consultant post.
- The Professor shall be precluded from engaging in private
practice or consultations in any form or retaining any fees which
may be received by him/her in connection with his/her work.
Provided that, in the event of the Professor opting to arrange,
in agreement with and subject to any conditions of the Governing Body and the hospital authority or authorities, to devote not more that one session of three hours duration per week to private practice or consultation work, the foregoing provision shall not apply to the private practice or consultation work carried out during that session.
- The said Professorship shall be a pensionable office to which the provisions of Statute LXXIX. (79), as amended, and the Pension Scheme annexed thereto, as amended, shall apply.
- The Professorship hereby established shall be tenable for the same term and upon the same conditions and the holder thereof shall be subject to the same duties and obligations as if the said Professorship had been included in Statutes I. to CLII. (1 to 152) of University College, Cork.
CHAPTER II.
Lectureship in Clinical Pharmacology
The Lectureship in Clinical Pharmacology, established by Statute CXXXIV. (134), Chapter II., as amended, is hereby abolished.
- This Statute shall be construed with and as part of Statutes I to CLII.
(1 to 152) of University College, Cork and may be cited as Statute CLIII. (153) of University College, Cork or Stat. CLIII(153) of Univ. Coll. Cork.
- This Statute shall come into operation on the twenty-seventh
day of February, 1990.
Present when the Common Seal of University College, Cork,
was affixed.
