Irish Universities Act, 1908
University College, Cork
We, the Governing Body of University College, Cork, under
and by virtue of the powers in that behalf conferred on us by
the said Act, Do by this present instrument under the Seal
of University College, Cork, make the Statute contained in
the Schedule hereof for the general government of the said
College.
Given under the Common Seal of University College, Cork, this twenty-seventh day of June, 1989.
Present when the Common Seal of University College, Cork,
was affixed:

Statute CL. (150)
Schedule
Statutes I. to CXLIX. (1 to 149), of University College, Cork,
shall be read and construed with the additions, modifications and
amendments hereinafter set forth.
CHAPTER I.
Co-option of Members of the Governing Body
Statute I., Chapter VI., sections 49 and 50 are hereby deleted and
replaced by the following:
- "49. After the expiration of the period of office of an outgoing
Governing Body, a meeting of such persons, if any, as may have
been nominated by the Government, of the persons so elected
and of the ex-officio members, shall be called for the earliest
convenient date of which not less than fourteen days' notice shall
be given to each member".

- (a) At such first meeting the members present shall co-opt
four additional members. To be eligible for co-option, a
candidate shall be nominated by a nomination paper, signed by
two members of the Governing Body, which shall be lodged with
the Secretary at least seven days before the Election Meeting. A
list of the persons so nominated, indicating also in each case the
names of the two members proposing the nomination, shall be
circulated in advance to the members of the Governing Body.
- (b) At said meeting, if no more than four persons are validly
nominated for co-option, the persons so nominated shall be
deemed to be elected and shall be declared by the Chairman of
the Election Meeting to be elected accordingly. If more than four
candidates shall have been nominated, there shall be a poll.
- (c) If the number of persons validly nominated for co-option
is less than four, the candidates so nominated shall be deemed to
be elected and shall be declared by the Chairman of the Election
Meeting to be elected accordingly. The meeting may then
consider nominations from the members present for the filling of
the outstanding vacancies for co-option, if the number of
candidates so nominated is greater than the number of vacancies
available, there shall be a poll".
