Statute CXLIII.
Irish Universities Act, 1908
University College, Cork
We, the Governing Body of University College, Cork, under
and by virtue of the powers in that behalf conferred on us by
the said Act, Do by this present instrument under the Seal
of University College, Cork, make the Statute contained in
the Schedule hereof for the general government of the said
College.
Given under the Common Seal of University College, Cork, this seventeenth day of February, 1987.

Schedule
Statutes I. to CXLII. of University College, Cork shall be read and
construed with the additions, modifications and amendments
hereinafter set forth.
The provisions of Statute LXXIX., Chapter I., section 7(b) shall
not apply to the holder of the Office of President.
CHAPTER II.
Professorship of Computer Science No. 2
- There shall be established in the College. in the event of its
institution by the National University of Ireland, a Professorship of
Computer Science No. 2.
- The said Professorship shall be in the Department of Computer
Science and shall be a full-time office within the meaning of the
Statutes of the College and of the University. The stipend of the said
Professorship shall be the same as that provided in Statute
CXXXII., Chapter I., section 4(a), as amended.
- The duties of the Professor shall be to lecture in Computer
Science, and particularly in Information Processing, under the general
direction of the Head of the Department of Computer Science for
all degrees. diplomas and certificates of the University and for all
diplomas and certificates of the College. He shall also examine in
Computer Science for the College and, if required by the Senate to
do so, for the University.
- The said Professorship shall be a pensionable office to which
the provisions of Statute LXXIX., as amended, and the pension
scheme annexed thereto, as amended, shall apply.
- The said Professorship shall be tenable for the same term and
upon the same conditions and the holder thereof shall be subject to
the same duties and obligations as if the said Professorship had been
included in Statutes I. to CXLII. of University College, Cork.
CHAPTER III.
Lectureship in Computer Science No. 2
- There shall be established in the College, in the event of its
institution by the National University of Ireland, a Lectureship in
Computer Science No. 2.
- The said Lectureship shall be a full-time office within the
meaning of the Statutes of the College and of the University.
- The duties of the Lecturer shall be to lecture in Computer
Science under the direction of the Head of the Department of
Computer Science for all degrees. diplomas and certificates of the
University and for all diplomas and certificates of the College. He shall
also examine in Computer Science for the College and, if required by
the Senate to do so, for the University. He shall, in addition, discharge
such other duties appropriate to the office as shall be assigned to
him by the said Head of the Department of Computer Science.
- The said Lectureship shall be a pensionable office to which
the provisions of Statute LXXIX., as amended, and the pension
scheme annexed thereto, as amended, shall apply.
- The said Lectureship shall be tenable for the same term and
upon the same conditions and the holder thereof shall be subject to
the same duties and obligations as if the said Lectureship had been
included in Statutes I. to CXLII. of University College, Cork.
CHAPTER IV.
Lectureship in Food Chemistry
The Lectureship in Dairy and Food Chemistry, established by
Statute LXXX., Chapter XVI., shall henceforth be known as the
Lectureship in Food Chemistry.
CHAPTER V.
Headship of Departments
Notwithstanding the provisions contained elsewhere in these
Statutes, the duties of each Professor, Associate Professor or
Lecturer shall, in cases where said Professor, Associate Professor or
Lecturer is not or has not been appointed as Head of Department,
be carried out under the direction of the Head of Department as
determined by the Statutes or by Resolution of the Governing Body.
- This Statute shall be construed with and as part of Statutes I.,
to CXLII. of University College, Cork and may be cited as Statute
CXLIII. of University College, Cork, or Stat. CXLIII. of Univ. Coll.
Cork.
- This Statute shall come into operation on the seventeenth
day of February, 1987.
