Statute CXXXII.

Irish Universities Act, 1908

University College, Cork

We, the Governing Body of University College, Cork, under and by virtue of the powers in that behalf conferred on us by the said Act, Do by this present instrument under the Seal of University College, Cork, make the Statute contained in the Schedule hereof for the general government of the said College.

Given under the Common Seal of University College, Cork, this twenty-third day of February, 1982.

Statute CXXXII.

Schedule

Statutes I. to CXXXI. of University College, Cork shall be read and construed with the additions, modifications and amendments hereinafter set forth.

CHAPTER I.
Increased Stipends

  1. Notwithstanding any provisions to the contrary contained in Statutes I. to CXXXI. of University College, Cork, the annual stipends of the President of the Professorships and Lectureships referred to in this Chapter and of the Officers of the College shall, as from the dates specified, be as hereinafter set forth.

  2. The annual stipend of the Registrar shall, as from the dates indicated, be as set out:

    from 26 June, 1979IR£16,610
    from 1 March, 1980IR£17,898
    from 26 June, 1980 IR£19,952

  3. The annual stipend of the office of Vice-President shall, as from the dates indicated, be as follows:

    from 26 June, 1979IR£1,530
    from 1 March, 1980 IR£1,650
    from 26 June, 1980IR£1,832

  4. The annual stipend of each of the offices of Finance Officer and Secretary, of College Engineer and Planning Officer, of Dean of Student Affairs and of Librarian, shall be the same as that provided in section 4(a) hereof.

  5. Subject to the provisions of sections 9 and 10, the annual stipends set forth in the foregoing sections of this Chapter shall, as from 1 October, 1980, be increased by 8% plus IR£52.20 per annum and as from 1 June, 1981, be further increased by 7%, the increased stipends to be each rounded to the nearest pound. The deductions referred to in section 2(b) of this Chapter shall, as from 1 October, 1980, be IR£2,041 and shall, as from 1 June, 1981, be IR£2,183.

  6. The annual stipend of the Finance Officer and Secretary shall, as from 1 January, 1981, be the same as that provided in section 3 of this Chapter.

  7. Notwithstanding the provisions of section 8, the annual stipend of the following part-time office and professorships shall as from the dates indicated, be as set out:

  8. Such of the foregoing stipends as relate to full-time appointments are based on the concept of total remuneration as set out in Report No. 20 (30 October, 1979) of the Review Body on Higher Remuneration in the Public Sector (Prl. 8148) and as applied by resolution of the Governing Body.

  9. The provisions of Statute CXXV., Chapter I., sections 2, 4 and 5 are hereby revoked.

CHAPTER II.
Pension Scheme

The provisos attaching to Clause 14, as amended, of the Pension Scheme annexed to Statute LXXIX., are hereby deleted and replaced by the following provision:

"Provided that the net pension payable after account is taken of the deduction shall not be less than IR£250 and
Provided that any amendment to the amount of the deduction necessary under the terms of this Clause which takes place after the date of retirement shall be made once only in each year on 1 July".

CHAPTER III.
Contributory Spouses and Childrens Pension Plan

  1. The Plan established by Statute CVIII., Chapter IV., shall henceforth be known as the "Contributory Spouses and Childrens Pension Plan".

  2. Statute CVIII., Chapter IV., section 2 is hereby amended by the addition thereto of the following:

  3. In the provisions of Statute CVIII., Chapter IV., with the exception of section 2 as amended, words importing the masculine gender shall be deemed to include the feminine and words importing the feminine gender shall be deemed to include the masculine.

CHAPTER IV.
Department of Modern Irish

The provisions of Statute CXXX., Chapters I., II., III., and IV., shall be deemed to be effective as from 1 October, 1981.

CHAPTER V.

  1. This Statute shall be construed with and as part of Statutes I., to CXXXI., of University College, Cork and may be cited as Statute CXXXII., of University College, Cork or Stat. CXXXII., of Univ. Coll. Cork.

  2. This Statute shall come into operation on the twenty-third day of February, 1982.
