Statute CXXVIII.
Irish Universities Act, 1908
University College, Cork
We, the Governing Body of University College, Cork, under
and by virtue of the powers in that behalf conferred on us by
the said Act, Do by this present instrument under the Seal
of University College, Cork, make the Statute contained in
the Schedule hereof for the general government of the said
College.
Given under the Common Seal of University College, Cork, this twenty-fourth day of February, 1981.

Statute CXXVIII.
Schedule
Statutes I. to CXXVII. of University College, Cork shall be read
and construed with the additions, modifications and amendments
hereinafter set forth.
CHAPTER I.
Certain Posts in the Medical Faculty
- Notwithstanding any provisions to the contrary contained in
Statutes I. to CXXVII. of University College, Cork, the annual
stipends of the full-time professorships and full-time lectureships set
out in this chapter shall, as from the date specified, be those hereinafter
set forth. Certain other provisions in regard to the said professorships
and lectureships shall be amended as set forth in this chapter.
- The annual stipend of each of the full-time professorships set
out in this section shall, as from 1 October, 1980, be £1l,567½.
Provided that the total of the annual stipend herein provided and
the annual salary payable to the holder as consultant by the
Southern Health Board shall, as from 1 October, 1980, not
exceed £23,135.
- Professorship of Medical Microbiology
- Professorship of Medicine
- Professorship of Obstetrics & Gynaecology
- Professorship of Paediatrics
- Professorship of Pathology
- Professorship of Psychiatry
- Professorship of Surgery
- The annual stipend of each of the full-time lectureships set out
in this section shall, as from 1 October, 1980, be £10,315½.
Provided that the total of the annual stipend herein provided and
the annual salary payable to the holder as consultant by the
Southern Health Board shall, as from 1 October, 1980, not
exceed £20,631.
- Lectureship in Medicine
- Lectureship in Medicine No. 3
- Lectureship in Obstetrics & Gynaecology
- Lectureship in Pathology, No. 2
- Lectureship in Paediatrics
- Lectureship in Psychiatry, No. 2
- Lectureship in Surgery
- The annual stipend of each of the full-time professorships set
out in this section, subject to the provisions of Statute CXX.,
Chapter I., section 4, shall, as from 1 October, 1980, be £23,135.
- Professorship of Conservative Dentistry
- Professorship of Dental Prosthetics
- Professorship of Dental Surgery
- Professorship of Orthodontics
- The annual stipend of each of the full-time lectureships set out
in this section, subject to the provisions of Statute CXX., Chapter I.,
sections 5 and 6 shall, as from 1 October, 1980, be £20,631.
- Lectureship in Conservative Dentistry
- Lectureship in Dental Surgery
- Lectureship in Preventive Dentistry
- (a). In regard to the full-time professorships and full-time
lectureships referred to in sections 2 and 3 of this chapter, the term,
"full-time" as referred to in this section and elsewhere in these
Statutes shall not be interpreted as precluding the holder of one of the
said full-time professorships or full-time lectureships from opting to
arrange, in agreement with the Governing Body and with the
Southern Health Board, to devote not more than two sessions, each
of three hours duration, per week to private practice or consultation
work.
- (b). The annual stipend of a full-time professor or a full-time
lecturer to which the provisions of sub-section (a) of this, section are
applied shall be as set forth in Statute CXXV., Chapter I., section 3,
and the provisions of Statute CI., Chapter I., section 4(a) shall not
apply. The provisions of Statute CI., Chapter I., section 4(b), shall
continue to apply except in so far as these provisions relate to private
practice or consultation work carried out during the two sessions per
week referred to in sub-section (a) of this section.
- (c). The provisions of sub-section (a) of this section, when applied,
shall continue to apply for the remainder of the term of office of the
full-time professor or the full-time lecturer concerned.
- This Statute shall be construed with and as part of Statutes I.,
to CXXVII., of University College, Cork and may be cited as
Statute CXXVIII. of University College, Cork or Stat. CXXVIII.
of Univ. Coll. Cork.
- This Statute shall come into operation on the twenty-fourth
day of February, 1981.
