Irish Universities Act, 1908

University College, Cork

We, the Governing Body of University College, Cork, under and by virtue of the powers in that behalf conferred on us by the said Act, Do by this present instrument under the Seal of University College, Cork, make the Statute contained in the Schedule hereof for the general government of the said College.

Given under the Common Seal of University College, Cork, this fourteenth day of October, 1975.

Statute CV.

Schedule

Statutes I. to CIV. of University College, Cork shall be read and construed with the additions, modifications and amendments hereinafter set forth.

CHAPTER I.
Increased Stipends

  1. Notwithstanding any provisions to the contrary contained in Statutes I. to CIV. of University College, Cork, the annual stipends of the President of the professorships, readers and certain lectureships set forth in this chapter and of the Officers of the College, shall as from 1 June, 1975, be those hereinafter set forth.

  2. The annual stipend of the President shall be £12,976. He shall also be entitled to residence, fuel and light valued for pension purposes at £983 per annum, In addition, he shall receive a non-pensionable allowance in respect of the expenses of his office, the annual amount of such allowance to be £1,542.

  3. The annual stipend of the Registrar shall be the same as that provided in section 4. (a) of this Chapter. The present holder of this office shall also be entitled to residence, fuel and light, valued for pension purposes at £983. The Governing Body may, at its discretion, pay a cash allowance equivalent to the pensionable value of residence, fuel and light.

  4. The minimum stipend specified in the First and Second Appendices annexed hereto shall be paid in respect of the first year of appointment and each of the subsequent stipend points shall respectively be payable as from each of the annual anniversaries of the date of appointment until the maximum stipend is payable and said maximum stipend shall thenceforth be payable.

    Provided that the Governing Body, on the recommendation of the President, shall have power to determine that any stipend point may be paid in respect of the first year of appointment to a holder of a full-time statutory office with special professional experience; on the occurrence of such on event, the subsequent stipend points shall respectively be payable as from each of the annual anniversaries of the date of appointment until the maximum stipend is payable and said maximum stipend shall thenceforth be payable.

CHAPTER II.
Children's Allowances

Statute LXVII., Chapter IV. section 2, as already amended is hereby further amended to the extent that the amount of the children's allowances shall. as from 1 June, 1975, be £114 per annum

CHAPTER III.
Increased Pensions

  1. The Governing Body has in accordance with the provision of Clause 8 of the Pension Scheme annexed to Statute LXXIX. reviewed the pensions payable to retired participants in the Scheme and to the widows of former participants or retired participants. In consequence thereof the following revised annual pensions shall be payable as from 1 June, 1975.

CHAPTER IV.

The Professorship of Concrete Technology established by Statute LXV., Chapter II., is hereby abolished.

CHAPTER V.
Lectureship in French

The Lectureship in French established by Statute LXVIII. Chapter I., is hereby abolished.

CHAPTER VI.
Increased Stipends

  1. Statute CII., Chapter I., section 8, is hereby amended as follows:

  2. The foregoing amendments shall be deemed to be effective as and from the date of coming into operation of said Statute CII.

CHAPTER VII.
Lectureship in Chemistry No. 4

  1. Statute CIII., Chapter III., is hereby amended as follows:

  2. The foregoing amendments shall be deemed to be effective as and from the date of coming into operation of said Statute CIII.

CHAPTER VIII.
Faculty of Dairy Science
Lectureship in Nutrition

  1. Statute CIII., Chapter II., is hereby amended by the substitution of the following for section 3.

    "3. The duties of the lecturer shall be to lecture in Nutrition under the direction of the Professor of Nutrition for all degrees, diplomas and certificates of the University and for all diplomas and certificates of the College. He shall also examine in Nutrition for the College and, if required by the Senate to do so, for the University. He shall, in addition, discharge such other duties appropriate to the office as shall be assigned to him by the said Professor of Nutrition".

  2. The foregoing amendment shall be deemed to be effective as and from the date of coming into operation of said Statute CIII.

CHAPTER IX.

  1. This statute shall be construed with and as part of Statutes I. to CIV. of University College, Cork and may be cited as Statute CV. of University College, Cork or Stat, CV. of Univ. Coll., Cork.

  2. This Statute shall come into operation on the twenty-first day of October, 1975.
