Statute CIII.

Irish Universities Act, 1908

University College, Cork

We, the Governing Body of University College, Cork, under and by virtue of the powers in that behalf conferred on us by the said Act, Do by this present instrument under the Seal of University College, Cork, make the Statute contained in the Schedule hereof for the general government of the said College.

Given under the Common Seal of University College, Cork, this twenty-fifth day of February, 1975.

Statute CIII.

Schedule

Statutes I. to CII. of University College, Cork shall be read and construed with the additions, modifications and amendments hereinafter set forth.

CHAPTER I.
Faculty of Dairy Science
Professorship of Nutrition

  1. There shall be established in the College, in the event of its institution by the National University of Ireland, a Professorship of Nutrition.
  2. The said professorship shall be a full-time office within the meaning of the statutes of the College and of the University. The stipend of the professorship shall be the same as that provided in Statute CII., Chapter I., section 4(a). The provisions of Statute LXVII., Chapter IV., as amended, shall also apply to the office.
  3. The duties of the professor shall be to lecture in Nutrition for all degrees, diplomas and certificates of the University and for all diplomas and certificates of the College. He shall also examine in Nutrition for the College and, if required by the Senate to do so, for the University.
  4. The said professorship shall be a pensionable office to which the provisions of Statute LXXIX., as amended, and the Pension Scheme annexed thereto, as amended, shall apply.
  5. The said professorship shall be tenable for the same term and upon the same conditions and the holder thereof shall be subject to the same duties and obligations as if the said professorship had been included in Statutes I. to CII. of University College, Cork.

CHAPTER II.
Faculty of Dairy Science
Lectureship in Nutrition

  1. There shall be established in the College, in the event of its institution by the National University of Ireland, a Lectureship in Nutrition.
  2. The said lectureship shall be a full-time office within the meaning of the statutes of the College and of the University. The stipend of the lectureship shall be the same as that provided in Statute CII., Chapter I., section 6(a). The provisions of Statute LXVII., Chapter IV., as amended shall also apply to the office.
  3. The duties of the lecturer shall be to lecture in Nutrition under the direction of the Professor of Nutrition for all degrees, diplomas and certificates of the University and for all diplomas and certificates of the College and, if required by the Senate do so, for the University. He shall, in addition, discharge such other duties appropriate to this office as shall be assigned to him by the said Professor of Nutrition.
  4. The said lectureship shall be a pensionable office to which the provisions of Statute LXXIX., as amended and the Pension Scheme annexed thereto, as amended, shall apply.
  5. The said lectureship shall be tenable for the same term and upon the same conditions and the holder thereof shall be subject to the same duties and obligations if the said lectureship had been included in Statutes I. to CII., of University College, Cork.

CHAPTER III.
Lectureship in Chemistry No. 4

  1. The said lectureship shall be a full-time office within the meaning of the statutes of the College and of the University. The stipend of the lectureship shall be the same as that provided in Statute CII., Chapter I., section 6(a). The provisions of Statute LXVII., Chapter IV., as amended, shall also apply to the office.
  2. The duties of the lecturer shall be to lecture in Chemistry, including Physical Chemistry, under the direction of the Head of the Department of Chemistry for all degrees, diplomas and certificates of the University and for all diplomas and certificates of the College. He shall also examine in Chemistry, including Physical Chemistry, for the College and, if required by the Senate to do so, for the University. He shall, in addition, discharge such other duties appropriate to the office as shall be assigned to him by the said Head of the Department of Chemistry.
  3. The said lectureship shall be a pensionable office to which the provisions of Statute LXXIX., as amended, and the Pension Scheme annexed thereto, as amended, shall apply.
  4. The said lectureship shall be tenable for the same term and upon the same conditions and the holder thereof shall be subject to the same duties and obligations as if the said Lectureship had been included in Statutes I. to CII., of University College, Cork.

CHAPTER IV.
Leave of Absence

  1. Statute I., Chapter XVII., and Statute XIII., Chapter I., are hereby revoked and, in substitutions therefor, the provisions of section 2 of this Chapter shall apply.
  2. The Governing Body may, on the recommendation of the President, give leave to be absent for a specified period for the purpose of delivering lectures or giving instruction or undertaking special study to any Officer, Professor, Lecturer or other member of the staff of the College on such conditions as the Governing Body shall determine.

CHAPTER V.
Faculties

Statute. XXVII., Chapter II., as already amended, is hereby further amended by the addition of the subject Nutrition in the Faculty of Dairy Science and to the Faculty of Science.

CHAPTER VI.

  1. This Statute shall be construed with and as part of Statutes I. to CIII. of University College, Cork and maybe cited as Statute CIII. of University College, Cork or Stat. CIII. of Univ. Coll., Cork.
  2. This Statute shall come into operation on the twenty-fifth day of February, 1975.
