We, the Governing Body of University College, Cork, under and by virtue of the powers in that behalf conferred on us by the said Act, Do by this present instrument under the Seal of University College, Cork, make the Statute contained in the Schedule hereof for the general government of the said College.

Statutes I. to C. of University College Cork shall be read and construed with the additions, modifications and amendments hereinafter set forth.
Notwithstanding any provisions to the contrary contained in Statutes I. to C. of University College Cork, the annual stipends of the full-time professorships and full-time lectureships set out in this Chapter shall, as from the dates specified, be those hereinafter set forth.
(a) The annual stipend of each of the full-time professorships set out in this sub-section shall, as from 1 January, 1974, be £4,750, as from 1 June, 1974, be £5,053.59 and from 1 December, 1974, be £5,328,59.
Provided that the total of the annual stipend herein provided and the annual salary payable to the holder as consultant by the Southern Health Board shall, as from 1 January, 1974, not exceed £9,500, as from 1 June, 1974, not exceed £10,197 and, as from 1 December, 1974, not exceed £10,657.

(b) Statute XCVI., Chapter I., section 6.(e), and Statute C., Chapter I., section 4.(c) are hereby amended.
(a) The annual stipend of each of the full-time lectureships set out in this sub-section shall, as from 1 January, 1974, be £4,000, as from 1 June, 1974, be £4,264.50 and, as from 1 December, 1974, be £4,500.50.
Provided that the total of the annual stipend herein provided and the annual salary payable to the holder as consultant by the Southern Health Board shall, as from 1 January, 1974, not exceed £8,000, as from 1 June, 1974, not exceed £8.529, and as from 1 December, 1974, not exceed £9,001.

(b) Statute XCVI., Chapter I., section 8.(d), and Statute C., Chapter I., section 6.(a) are hereby amended.
(a) Notwithstanding any provision to the contrary in Statutes I. to C. of University College, Cork, the holders of the professorships and lectureships referred to in sections 2 and 3 of this Chapter shall be entitled to treat certain private patients or classes of private patients as approved by the Governing Body and the Southern Health Board. Any fees related to such treatment shall be collected in a manner approved by the Governing Body and Southern Health Board and shall not be retained by the holders of the professorships and lectureships concerned; the fees so collected shall be expended for the purposes of research and such other purposes as may be approved by the Governing Body and the Southern Health Board.
(b) With the exception of the provisions of sub-section (a) of this section, the holders of the professorships and lectureships referred to in sections 2 and 3 of this Chapter shall be precluded from engaging in private practice or consultations in any form or retaining any fees which may be received by them in connection with their work.
Notwithstanding any provisions to the contrary contained in Statutes I. to C. of University College Cork, the annual stipends of certain part-time lectureships of the College shall, as from 1 October, 1974, be those hereinafter set forth.
The annual stipend of each of the part-time lectureships set out in this section shall, as from 1 October, 1974, be as follows:

There shall be established in the College, in the event of its institution by the National University of Ireland, an associate professorship in the department of Chemistry to be known as the Associate Professorship of Chemistry.
The said associate professorship shall be a full-time office within the meaning of the statutes of the College and of the University. The stipend of the associate professorship shall be the same as that set out in Statute C., Chapter I., section 4(d). The provisions of Statute LXVII., Chapter IV., as amended, shall also apply to the office.
The duties of the associate professor shall be to lecture in Chemistry, including Organic Chemistry, under the direction of the head of the department of Chemistry for all degrees, diplomas and certificates of the University and for all diplomas and certificates of the Collage. He shall also examine in Chemistry, including Organic Chemistry, for the College and, if required by the Senate to do so, for the University. He shall, in addition, discharge such other duties appropriate to the office as shall be assigned to him by the said head of the department of Chemistry.
Notwithstanding any provisions to the contrary contained in this or any other Statute, the said associate professor shall not be eligible for appointment as Deputy to the President or as Acting President of the College.
The said associate professorship shall be a pensionable office to which the provisions of Statute LXXXIX., as amended, and the Pension Scheme annexed thereto, as amended, shall apply.
The said associate professorship is intended to be in substitution for the Lectureship in Chemistry No. 2 established by Statute LXIV., Chapter V., which said lectureship shall cease to exist if the holder thereof is appointed to the associate professorship hereby established or ceases by resignation or otherwise to hold office.
There shall be established in the College, in the event of its institution by the National University of Ireland, an associate professorship in the Department of Electrical Engineering to be known as the Associate Professorship of Electrical Engineering.
The said associate professorship shall be a full-time office within the meaning of the statutes of the College and of the University. The stipend of the associate professorship shall be the same as that set out in Statute C., Chapter section 4(d). The provisions of Statute LXVII., Chapter IV., as amended, shall also apply to the office.
The duties of the associate professor shall be to lecture in Electrical under the direction of the Professor of Electrical Engineering for all degrees, diplomas and certificates of the University and for all diplomas and certificates of the College. He shall also examine in Electrical Engineering for the College and, if required by the Senate to do so, for the University. He shall, in addition, discharge such other duties appropriate to the office as shall be assigned to him by the said Professor of Electrical Engineering.
Notwithstanding any provisions to the contrary contained in this or any other Statute, the said associate professor shall not be eligible for appointment as Deputy to the President or as Acting President of the College.

With the consent of the present holder of the part-time Professorship of Chemical Spectroscopy, the stipend of said professorship shall, as from 1 October, 1974, be £250 per annum and shall, as from 1 December, 1974, be £265 per annum.
The said part-time Professorship of Chemical Spectroscopy shall cease to exist if the present holder thereof ceases by resignation or otherwise to hold this office; on the occurrence of such event Statute LXV., Chapter I., shall be revoked.
Statute LXV., Chapter VII., is hereby amended by the substitution of the words "within the period of six months prior to the expiration of the Seven Year period referred to;" for the words "within fifteen days of the expiration of the Seven Year period referred to;" where they occur in said Chapter.
The Governing Body has, in accordance with the provision of Clause 8 of the Pension Scheme annexed to Statute LXXIX., reviewed the pensions payable to certain retired participants in the Scheme and to the widows of certain former participants or retired participants. In consequence thereof the revised annual pensions set out in this Chapter shall be payable as from the dates specified.
The revised annual pensions set out in Columns A, B and C hereunder shall be payable, as from the dates set out at the head of each of those columns except where otherwise stated, to the retired participants specified in this section:

The pensions set out in the foregoing section in respect of those who retired subsequent to the enactment of Statute LXXIX. are subject to the provisions of Clause 14 of the Pension Scheme.
The associate professorships established by this statute shall be tenable for the same term and upon the same conditions and the holders thereof shall be subject to the same duties and obligations as if the said associate professorships had been included in Statutes I. to C. of University College Cork.
This Statute shall be construed with and as part of Statute I. to C. of University College Cork and may be cited as Statute CI. of University College Cork or Stat. CI. of Univ. Coll. Cork.
This Statute shall come into operation on the twenty-first day of January, 1975.
