Access UCC - Mature & QQI Support
Our office supports all Mature and QQI/FE students in UCC studying full-time undergraduate degrees, as well as those of you considering and contemplating full-time study. We offer a wide range of supports and initiatives specifically designed for enhancing your experience.
Our office is a place where students can come to be listened to, ask questions, and all within an open, honest, non-judgemental and empathetic environment. We advise students on how best to use the student services available to them within the University and we provide customised and dedicated supports responding to the diverse and unique needs of all our students.
Whether you are beginning your journey or well on your way, we are here for you all and sincerely congratulate you on your commitment to your undergraduate degree; well done! Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any question, at any stage of your academic journey.
Statement of Service
Support offered for registered students
Academic difficulties: Academic support offered will be provided on a case by case basis. If the difficulty is within the academic sphere then we may need to consult with relevant staff in your department to assess your support needs and your permission will be required for this.
Financial Difficulties: The UCC Budgetary Advisor is available to advise students who are experiencing financial difficulties. Contact this Service by emailing email@example.com.
Other difficulties that impact on a student’s ability to study: We are well aware that balancing life and studying can be difficult. We are available to listen to your particular issue and point you in the right direction to get help and support. Sometimes we can help a student to successfully address an issue immediately and other times the difficulty may be beyond our resources and other service areas within the University may be required.
Confidentiality: Information given to a staff member by you will not be disclosed to others outside of the office without your consent, except in the following exceptional circumstances:
- If there is a serious concern that there may be a threat to the safety or life of you or others.
- In the context of criminal behaviour and disclosures required by legal process.
- In the context of child protection issues.
In the above exceptional circumstances, it may become necessary to break confidentiality.
In the context of such exceptional circumstances information may be given to the appropriate third parties without the students consent. Every reasonable effort will be made by staff to inform the student of their intended actions. However, protecting the safety of the student and the safety of others takes precedence.
