Invitation to Mindfulness
The Disability Support Services and Student Wellbeing would like to invite you to be part of a mindfulness group which is being run in conjunction with Operation Transformation UCC 2015.
Tuesdays 1:15 p.m. - 1:45 p.m. for six weeks, starting Tuesday 27th. January
Mindfulness is a way of paying attention to the present moment. It will not eliminate life's pressures, but it can help us respond to them in a calmer manner that benefits our heart, head, and body.
Mindfulness can result in multiple benefits such as:
- Improved mental and physical health and well-being
- Higher levels of energy and enthusiasm
- Increased self-confidence
- Less likelihood of experiencing stress
- Increased concentration and focus
Our group will run on a Tuesday for 30 minutes from 1.15pm to 1.45pm for six weeks. The first group will take place next week, on the 27th of January. Location to be confirmed in the next day or two, so keep an eye on your emails. We will also be organising a refresher session which will take place during study week - just in time to brush up on your skills before the exams!
Here is a breakdown of what we will be focusing upon each week:
Week 1 Relaxation and breathing
Week 2 Mindful communication
Week 3 Mindful eating
Week 4 Mindful walking
Week 5 Desk yoga
Week 6 Laughter yoga
You do not have to already be a part of the Operation Transformation programme to join this group but it is another great opportunity to improve your overall health and can easily be fitted into your lunch hour.
If you are interested in taking part, please reply to this email to firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible to book a place. Attendance/membership is free of charge.
