UCC is pleased to announce bursaries of €2,000 to postgraduate students who were previously in receipt of a Higher Education grant from their Local Authority or Vocational Education Committee (VEC) and are now no longer eligible due to cutbacks.
These bursaries are limited to one year full time taught postgraduate programmes. Students who are in receipt of any other source of funding or scholarship are not eligible for this bursary.
In the first instance, all students must apply through the new ONLINE ONLY grant applications system. All new applications will be made online to a single awarding authority, Student Universal Support Ireland (SUSI) through www.studentfinance.ie.
In order to receive the bursary, students must present their 13-digit SUSI application number at registration in September. Graduates from any Third Level Higher Education Institution, other than UCC, will also need to provide a letter of award from their Local Authority/VEC, confirming that the student was in receipt of a grant for their undergraduate programme.
Criteria for eligibility for the Post-Graduate Bursary for Taught Programmes
- Students who qualified for a Local Authority/VEC grant in the final year of their Bachelor’s Degree, and who graduated from any Irish Higher Level Education Institution from 2009 onwards.
- Study Programmes to which the Bursary applies
- Open to one year full time taught Post- Graduate programmes only.
- Open to students who have received a Higher Diploma and are progressing to a full time taught Postgraduate Diploma or Master’s Degree.
All postgraduate students will be asked to pay the first instalment of fees (half the total fee) when registering online in September 2012. Eligible students, who do not receive funding from SUSI or another source in 2012/13, will automatically receive the UCC postgraduate Bursary. This bursary will be applied prior to the second fee instalment, which is due for payment in January 2013.
