UCC Law Faculty today - Friday 19th October 2012 - hosts the first national clinical education roundtable.
Clinical education is designed to bridge the gap between the theory and practice of law and it is fast becoming a feature of legal education everywhere. UCC was at the fore in Ireland in this area in making Moot Court and modules on legal writing and research compulsory for BCL students.
It also has a proud tradition of engaging with the community and incorporating this work into its teaching and learning activities so that both community and students benefit - the BCL Clinical, the LL.M. Criminal Justice and the new Child Law Clinic as part of the LL.M. Child and Family Law are excellent examples - although clinical education now permeates our activities at all levels.
This roundtable will bring together colleagues from UCD, NUIG, Maynooth, DIT, UL and UCC to discuss how clinical education can develop inIreland. UCC is delighted to host this first meeting.
