Intensive Summer Course – Beginners Italian
Duration: 2 weeks. Commencing Monday, 13th June 2011, finishing Friday, 24th June 2011

Intensive Arabic Language for Beginners
Duration: 6 weeks. 2h Wed and 2h Fri (running from May 17 till June 23)
Time: 5.00 pm – 7.00 pm
Sessions: 6 x 4h of language
Level: Beginners and basic knowledge
Fee: € 160 (€150 for students and UCC staff members)

This intensive Arabic class is a course for beginners with no or little knowledge of the language. Participants will be introduced to Modern Standard Arabic through the progressive study of the Arabic alphabet, vocabulary, syntax and grammar. The course will concentrate on developing basic writing, reading and speaking skills. The course will be innovative and lively offering role-plays, group discussions and up-to-date information on different issues concerning the Arab-Muslim world. Aspects of language and culture will be introduced to give participants background information on various Arab countries.
Intensive Summer Course – Arabic Language for Advanced Beginners
Duration: 6 weeks. 2 hours Tuesday and 2 hours Thursday (commencing Tuesday, May 17 2011, finishing Thursday, June 23 2011)
Time: 6.30 p.m. – 8.30 p.m.
Sessions: 6 x 4 hours of language
Level: Advanced Beginners
Fee: € 180 (€170 for students and UCC staff members)

This intensive course is a continuation of Modern Standard Arabic intermediate beginner’s classes. This course is suitable for those who participated in the previous Arabic courses of the department or have some basic knowledge of Arabic in particular in nominal and verbal sentences. The course will train participants to use more sophisticated grammatical structures, to expand their vocabulary, and to gain more knowledge of some aspects of Arab culture and history. This course will concentrate on the development of the participants’ ability to read, write, and converse in Modern Standard Arabic. Participants will also be introduced to some spoken Arabic to enable them to communicate in a more natural way with native Arabic speakers. After completing this course, participants will be able to step into the next intermediate Arabic language course.
