I.T. Infrastructure Investments
University College Cork is about to embark on an exciting programme of digital rejuvenation. As part of this programme of work, the University plans a major investment in IT systems and infrastructure in UCC over the next 3 years.
It is appropriate that on the Anniversary of George Boole, the University has decided to make its most significant investment in systems since its foundation. Projects include
- Enhancing Student Administration Systems
- Developing a Digital Hub for students
- Upgrades to Wi-Fi, network and computer labs
- Upgrades to classroom technology.
These projects are driven by the priorities within the academic community. We have worked closely over the past 12 months to develop modern digital classroom designs with the Office of Vice President of Teaching and Learning and also with Academic Council and Information Services and Educational Resources. This summer we will see work begin on classrooms and Wi-Fi within the Library, Kane Building and the O’Rahilly building. We will demonstrate these new designs and plans to academic colleagues, in early September.
