Director of Information Services Wins Patrick Kavanagh Poetry Award

Winning the Patrick Kavanagh Poetry Award is a commendable feat in itself. To do so having never been previously published in any forum is an even greater one, but John FitzGerald, University Librarian and Director of Information Services has done exactly that. 

All of the staff of IS services, those in IT Services, the Library, AVMS and CUP wish to join the President and other UCC colleagues is offering our warmest congratulation to John Fitzgerald on winning the 2014 Patrick Kavanagh Poetry Award. 

The Patrick Kavanagh Poetry Award was established in 1971 and is the longest running award of its type in Ireland. John FitzGerald now joins the ranks of previous winners including Paul Durcan, Eiléan Ní Chuilleanáin, Celia de Fréine, Thomas McCarthy, Peter Sirr, Sinead Morrissey and William Wall.

John has also been shortlisted for the Hennessy New Irish Writing Award 2015.
