Start-up Lab at UCC Open For Applications!
Start-Up Lab at UCC is looking for people with passion currently working either full-time or part-time on scalable start-up ideas that have potential for commercial or social impact and with the ambition to work full-time on the idea in the future. It's open to UCC staff, students and Alumni.
Over six weeks Start-Up Lab at UCC will help participants build and refine a robust business model for their business.
Each week specific guidance will be provided on the steps promoters need to take to develop their business model and they will be provided with an opportunity to present progress to experienced mentors and peers. The participants will also work in small groups to address different issues and overcome obstacles.
Each week there will also be a guest speaker, an experienced entrepreneur, who will provide specific practical advice and guidance on important start-up topics such as networking, raising finance, building a team and more.
There will also be plenty of time for networking over refreshments!
Start-Up Lab at UCC is restricted to just 16 start-ups. Where there are two or more partners involved in the start-up, all partners are welcome to participate.
While the overall approach will be learning through fun and enjoyment, it is expected that all participants are committed to working on their start-up idea between workshops. All participants will have the opportunity to pitch their idea to an invited panel on the final evening and participants will be provided with specific recommendations on the next steps to develop their idea.
The best ideas will share in a cash prize fund to support the development of their respective businesses.
Participants who meet the criteria may be offered a place on the next IGNITE programme starting early 2020.
Start-up Lab at UCC will commence at 17:30 on Tuesday, 1 October, 2019 in the Creative Zone, Boole Library, University College Cork, and will run for six consecutive Tuesday evenings.
Those interested in participating are invited to submit an online application HERE.
The closing date for submitting applications is Tuesday, 24 September 2019.
