Official opening of new facility for IGNITE startup AnaBio Technologies

On Monday 26 March AnaBio Technologies LTD celebrated the inauguration of its Centre of Excellence for Encapsulation Technologies in Carrigtwohill, Co.Cork. Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Mr Michael Creed TD officiated over the inauguration.

Dr. Sinéad Bleiel, CEO, Dan MacSweeney, Chairman and Dr. André Brodkorb, Principal Research Officer at Teagasc, addressed the 80 guests who attended the opening. Guests were taken on a guided tour of the new facility which demonstrated AnaBio’s current portfolio of products and further showed how the new site and its high-tech laboratory facilities are being used to develop AnaBio’s cutting edge encapsulation technology.

The tour was followed by speeches from AnaBio’s Chairman Dan MacSweeney, Dr. André Brodkorb, AnaBio CEO Dr. Sinéad Bleiel and Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Mr. Michael Creed TD.

Dr. Sinéad B. Bleiel, CEO states: “We are delighted and very proud to open our new Centre of Excellence in Carrigtwohill which enables us to deliver state-of-the-art ingredients and technology platforms for our growing global customer base. This is the result of “Dreaming Big”. We are currently employing 25 highly qualified employees and will further extend our team with production specialists over the coming months. The AnaBio team has worked with key equipment manufacturers, suppliers and customers to develop bespoke solutions for specialised micro-encapsulation processes. The resultant process design makes AnaBio a unique global manufacturer of innovative ingredients, which represents ground-breaking innovations for our broad customer base. We would like to thank all our investors, long-term supporters and Enterprise Ireland for all their support and belief in AnaBio. We are convinced that we have an exciting growth path ahead of us. And we will continue to “Dream Big”.

Engineering Director Mark Lee outlined the plans for development of the production facility in 2018. The company moved into the 2,700 sqm Carrigtwohill facility in late 2017 and is planning further expansion with the development of a production facility in 2018.

Anabio Technologies Ltd develops and commercialises natural food-grade micro-encapsulation technologies that are patented for the stabilisation, protection and targeted release of sensitive ingredients.

The company was founded in 2011 by Teagasc/UCC PhD Graduate Sinead Bleiel (Doherty). Bleiel joined the IGNITE Programme in 2012, winning the IGNITE/Bank of Ireland Business of the Award a year later. Anabio went on to win Best Emerging Company of the Year by Cork Chamber of Commerce in 2014.
