IGNITE Welcomes Deirdre Clune MEP

Deirdre Clune, MEP for Ireland South, visited IGNITE on Thursday 17th Nov 2016.

Eamon Curtin, IGNITE Programme Director, and Dick Lehane, Chair of IGNITE Advisory Board, welcomed the guests and presented a brief overview of the programme and outcomes to date.

The Fine Gael MEP met with the IGNITE participants who shared their start-up ideas with the Minister. MEP Clune shared her insights into the EU Horizon 20/20 funding programme and how programmes such as IGNITE are having a tangible impact on the economic landscape in Ireland.

“MEP Clune showed so much interest in my business idea and gave great insights on how my business idea would benefit an organisation like the European Parliament”, said Marie Therese Shortt. Marie Therese is developing a platform to help multi-national organisations and NGO’s address intercultural communications to improve organisational efficiency.

MEP Clune was accompanied by Cllr Laura McGonigle of Cork City Council.
