IGNITE 2013 Awards and Showcase - Now Even Bigger!

This year, the IGNITE Graduate Business Innovation Programme Awards and Showcase will be better than ever. To reflect the significant progress made by the programme since it was launched just two years ago, this year we will present Awards in five categories based on the judgements of four experienced business people and with the generous support of our three Awards sponsors.

The Awards to be presented at the annual Awards and Showcase to be held at Aula Maxima, UCC on Weds. 26th June 2013 are:

  1. Bank of Ireland/IGNITE Business of the Year 2013

    This Award will be presented to the individual(s) who, in the opinion of the judges, has bestdemonstrated the potential to build a business that will achieve growth and create sustainable employment.

    The prize is a trophy plus €2,000 cash prize.

  2. Ernst & Young/IGNITE Business Plan of the Year 2013

    This Award will be presented to the individual(s) who, in the opinion of the judges, presents the best written business plan.

    The prize is a trophy plus €500 cash prize plus two tickets to the Annual E&Y Entrepreneur of the Year Awards Night (including accommodation)

  3. JW O’Donovan Solicitors/IGNITE Innovation of the Year 2013

    This Award will be presented to the individual(s) who, in the opinion of the judges, demonstrates the most innovative use of technology to deliver the product or service.

    The prize is a trophy plus €1,000 in cash and in kind legal services.

  4. IGNITE Best Showcase 2013

    This Award will be presented to the individual(s) who, in the opinion of the judges, presents the most effective Showcase display.

    The prize is a trophy plus €500 cash prize.

  5. IGNITE Peer Award 2013

    This Award will be presented to the individual(s) who, in the opinion of their peers, has most demonstrated a spirit of cooperation, leadership and entrepreneurial ability throughout the Programme.

    The prize is a trophy plus €500 cash prize.

Four awards will be made based on presentations to the judging panel on Tues. 25th June at the Board Room at Bank of Ireland’s Regional Headquarters at 32 South Mall.

The adjudication panellists will be: 

  • Diarmuid Lynch, Area Manager, Bank of Ireland (Chair)

  • Gillian Keating, Partner, JW O’Donovan

  • Simon McAllister, Director, Ernst & Young

  • Declan O’Mahoney, CEO, HeartSine Technologies Ltd

The all important IGNITE Peer Award 2013 will be voted on by IGNITE 2013 participants.

Past winners of IGNITE Awards have included Eoin O’Carroll and Kevin Bambury of Portable Medical Technology Ltd and Mike McGrath of supply.ie, pictured above.

The IGNITE Graduate Business Innovation Programme is funded by Cork City Council, Cork County Council, Cork County and City Enterprise Boards and Bank of Ireland.

A limited number of places are available for IGNITE 2013 Awards and Showcase which begins at 6.00pm in Aula Maxima, UCC on Wednesday 26th June.   Places can be reserved by emailing ignite@ucc.ie.
