HRB Accent Project

The HRB Accent Project

The Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences in University College Cork was awarded funding from the Health Research Board (HRB) for a 3-year research project, investigating whether children with a delay in their language development find it difficult to understand instructions spoken by a person with an unfamiliar accent.  The project began in November 2012 and will continue until 2015.

The project team members include Prof Fiona Gibbon as project supervisor, Dr Pauline Frizelle as project manager, Prof Paul Fletcher as a co-applicant, and Jennifer Harte as research assistant.
