Nóirín Uí Bhreithiúnaigh, UCC Research Office

In this new initiative, we honour those UCC Heroes who have made an exceptional, if hidden contribution to the university community, during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Next up, is Nóirín Uí Bhreithiúnaigh, UCC Research Office.

Nóirín was nominated by Paul Bolger, Jerry Murphy, Jeremy Gault, John Cryan, Stephen Byrne, Sally Cudmore, Mairead Kiely, and Paul O’Toole. Here, we find out why she is so deserving of this acknowledgement.

“Nóirín is an unsung hero of the restarting of research in UCC over the last month.

She has played a central role on the UCC Research Business Continuity Team, in enabling the re-opening of research buildings on campus including the ERI Buildings, Bioscience Building, Food Science Building, and Kane Building.

She has been a critical catalyst for the pilot access programmes for buildings and fieldwork, and has enabled many grateful UCC students and researchers to return to laboratories at an early stage to conduct essential research to complete their studies and projects.”
