UCC Heroes: Kathryn Sheehan, UCC Disability Support Services
Kathryn Sheehan of UCC Disability Support Services was nominated by Mary O’Rourke. Below, Mary shares why she is so deserving of this acknowledgement.
“Over the past number of months, since the campus closed, Kathryn has been delivering (free) online yoga classes for UCC colleagues every Tuesday and Thursday morning. The classes have not only encouraged staff to practice and cultivate positive physical and mental well-being habits throughout the pandemic - most importantly at the height of the movement restrictions, but the quality and consistency of Kathryn's delivery has been a settling and grounding force for many of those who have been engaging with the classes.
Dialling in regularly to Kathryn's sessions on Teams has not only encouraged routine-keeping for staff, but has introduced the discipline of yoga to many beginners. Kathryn's style of teaching is democratic and inclusive, with all levels not only catered for but encouraged with generosity, patience and understanding. Thanks for doing what you do, Kathryn!"
