Gerard Horgan, Dept of Management and Marketing

In this new initiative, we honour those UCC Heroes who have made an exceptional, if hidden contribution to the university community, during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Next up, is Gerard Horgan of the Department of Management and Marketing, Cork University Business School.

Gerard was nominated by Professor Anthony McDonnell. Here, he tells us why he nominated Gerard.

"On his initiative, Gerard established a blog which provides several uplifting articles and imagery, alongside updates, tips and relevant links that may assist colleagues and the general public through these unprecedented times.

My understanding of Gerard’s vision for the blog was to promote the spread of positive messages and sound information to rival the spread of Covid-19 and the negativity that this has brought to.

While all our front-line workers rightfully deserve and need to be recognised for their care and service to us all while placing themselves in harm’s way, such initiatives like Gerard’s serve a useful and valuable purpose to many people as they try to best manage our fundamentally altered world."

The blog, which has had thousands of views, can be accessed through this link.

Well done, Gerard!
