UCC Heroes: Clinical Operations Team, Clinical Research Facility (CRF-C)

The Clinical Operations Team of the Clinical Research Facility was nominated by Maeve Kelsey, Site Management Operations Manager. Below, Maeve shares why the team is so deserving of this acknowledgement.

The CRF-C clinical team of research nurses and research support officers remained on-site in Cork University Hospital, Mercy University Hospital, South Infirmary Victoria Hospital and University Hospital Waterford during the COVID-19 pandemic. Throughout the COVID-19 lockdown, this dedicated group continued to provide vital medications and support to patients on existing regulated clinical trials. They also coordinated many COVID-19-related studies.

During this intense period of activity, the team made many personal sacrifices (wedding cancellation, holiday cancellations, working flexible hours, etc.) and at all times prioritised the patients, recognising that research on COVID-19 is key to saving lives.”
