This session will introduce you to the FOI Act and will guide you through the basics, including:

• Understanding individuals’ rights under FOI
• What to do if you receive an FOI request
• Creating and managing your records with FOI in mind
• Knowing the timelines and key actions for answering requests
• How to search for and list records
• Assessing whether any records are exempt from release
• Getting the final response ready
• Putting your learnings into action with cases studies based on real FOI cases
