ASSISTANT RESEARCH MANAGER

FINANCE OFFICE

(1-Year Wholetime Contract - Grade 5)

Research is a core activity of the University ; it is fuelled by external research income. The continuation of this expenditure stream (circa €63M p.a.) is dependent on accurate and timely reporting. This reporting function is facilitated by the Assistant Research Accounts Manager.The Post-holder must also deputise for the Research Manager in her absence.

The successful candidate will -

• Be a qualified accountant with at least 3 years financial accounting and reporting experience in a large organisation, excellent communication skills, self motivatedand exercise of own initiative on a wide variety of issues.
• Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, as the role requires the post holder to have widespread interaction and create relationships with senior personnel both inside and outside the College. This role in general involves a lot of problem resolving with Project Leaders and employees on projects.
• Have experience ideally of effective people management skills as the jobholder is expected to deputise for the Research Manager in her absence.
• Demonstrate excellent IT skills.
• Demonstrate attention to detail. Accuracy of information prepared is critical as any errors would have financial implications for the University.
• Demonstrate ability to work under pressure and with multiple deadlines

Salary scale [new entrants]: €39,448- €49,024 depending on qualifications and experience .
