The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in UCC in collaboration with Cork University Maternity Hospital is currently developing the BUPA Ireland Research Centre which will be located on the top floor of Cork University Maternity Hospital.One component of the BUPA Ireland Research Centre is the National Perinatal Epidemiology Centre.The National Perinatal Epidemiology Centre is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified and experienced Administrator to provide administrative guidance and support in the initial start up phase of the Centre.

The appointee will have responsibility for financial systems and oversee the administrative management of the Institute during this establishment period, while also helping to provide the necessary support infrastructure to help promote the work which is to be carried out within the Centre.

The successful candidate will be of graduate calibre and should have previous administrative/supervisory experience of an educational/research environment at third level.  S/he will be required to demonstrate excellent organisational, interpersonal and IT skills and a proven ability to work independently and as a member of a team. S/he should also demonstrate the energy, initiative and enthusiasm that is required for a start up operation of this nature.

Essential Criteria:

  • A graduate or an individual of degree calibre;
  • Experience of working in an administrative capacity at an appropriate level for at least two years;
  • Practical experience in budgetary planning, financial management and account Management;
  • Excellent IT skills including word processing, Access, Excel, Powerpoint, e-mail and the internet;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to deal effectively, efficiently and appropriately with staff, senior managers, public and external organisations;
  • Excellent written communication skills, to write clearly and accurately to produce work of a high standard including taking minutes; 
    Ability to work on own initiative.

Salary Scale [new entrants]: €38,299-€47,596 p.a. depending on qualifications and experience.
