The Mobile & Internet Systems Laboratory (MISL) conducts basic and applied research in computer networking for mobile/wireless and multimedia systems. Led by Prof. Sreenan, the laboratory is supported externally by several Irish and international companies, Enterprise Ireland, the EU and Science Foundation Ireland.

MISL has an established international reputation for its research on wireless sensor networks and has been awarded a research grant for the project “Embedded Wireless Sensor Networks – EmNets”. This is funded by Enterprise Ireland under the auspices of the WISEN Industry-Led Research Programme, and is being undertaken in collaboration with the Adaptive Wireless Systems group at Cork Institute of Technology (CIT).

Applications are now invited for the following position:

Post-Doctoral Researcher (Wireless Sensor Networks)

The holder of this position will have an important overall role within the project, working to refine and pursue a research agenda on network management for wireless sensor networks, coordinating activity with other members of the team at UCC and CIT, and assisting in management activities such as project planning and report writing.

Applicants should hold a PhD in computer science/engineering, a strong interest in the area of wireless sensor networking, and excellent inter-personal skills. The successful applicant will receive gross salary of Euro39,647 - 43,485 per annum depending on experience and qualifications. The position is available from March 2008 until the formal end of the project on 31/8/2009.
