Issue 2 of Uprooted

28 Apr 2022

We’re delighted to announce the release of Issue 2 of Uprooted!

Uprooted is an environmental publication that centres around the ever-growing climate crisis and the beauty of the natural world. Uprooted was first published by UCC Environmental Society in 2020, which you can read here.

The aim of Uprooted is to give people a platform where their voices can be heard and amplified. The second issue, put together by UCC Green Campus & UCC Environmental Society was published on the 11th April 2022. Submissions were open to everyone (not just UCC students and staff) and we received a range of thought-provoking pieces including poetry, eco-art, opinion pieces, music, and photography.

The climate crisis brings with it a range of emotions, and art is a fantastic way to express feelings of anguish, climate anxiety, anger, hope, and optimism. The humanities play a key role in spreading messages of climate action and sharing new perspectives on the climate crisis.

Art and art-based projects are becoming increasingly common in environmental circles and they can be a powerful way to communicate ideas of climate justice and intersectional environmentalism.

We would like to thank everyone who took the time to submit their work to us and we hope you enjoy reading Issue 2.
