The Sydney Regan Music Masterclass Online Series 2020/21

24 Nov 2020

The Music Department is delighted to announce that the first workshop of the Sydney Regan Music Masterclass Online Series will be delivered by the renowned piano specialist and teacher, Aidan Duggan, this Friday 27th November at 11am.

Aidan Duggan is a pianist, teacher, composer and pen and ink artist living in Fermoy, Co. Cork. He is an examiner for the Royal Irish Academy of Music and is widely recognised as one of the leading piano teachers in the country, famed for his stylish and skillful interpretation of piano repertoire from all eras. He studied piano at the Cork School of Music and studied Music to degree level at University College, Cork. He was later awarded a Master’s degree in composition by Waterford Institute of Technology under the supervision of Marian Ingoldsby. His compositions have been included in the exam syllabi of both the Royal Irish Academy of Music and the Leinster School of Music, and his compositions have been performed at New Music festivals and recitals. Aidan is part of an esteemed lineage of master piano teachers, having been taught by Geraldine Neeson, a protégé of Tilly Fleischmann, who studied under Bernhard Stavenhagen, the last student of Franz Liszt. This legacy is evident both in Aidan’s own beautiful cantabile touch and in his piano pedagogy.

The workshop is open to all UCC Music students who are classical pianists. Registration is now full, but those who wish to be placed on a waiting list can do so by contacting Tríona Ní Shíocháin at triona.nishiochain@ucc.ie directly.
