Jamie Benson

I am currently studying music and politics in UCC. Growing up in Wexford, I developed an interest in performing from an early age, first in drama performance, and soon after came my interest in, and love of music. I have been cast in principle and lead stage performance roles working with Bare Cheek Theatre Company up to the age of eighteen, after which time I assisted in the facilitation of a number of drama programs with them. While I would consider guitar to be my main instrument, I also play cajon and ukulele. I am learning piano and most recently have developed an interest in the bass.

In 4th class at primary school, I won the Mercy School Has Talent competition and also advanced through a number of rounds in the Wexford Has Talent competition. I was a soloist in the TY Hits of the Musicals, performing the ABBA hit The Winner Takes It All. More recently I have performed in The National Opera House with Nathan Carter as part of my secondary school choir and performed cajon in Michael Londra's live concert performance that was recorded as part of his Ireland with Michael series for broadcast in the USA.

At the moment I like going out and playing gigs either in pubs or busking on the streets at home in Wexford. I also enjoy song writing and will be taking to the recording studio to begin recording arrangements for a selection of my original songs. I am currently part of the way through shooting a short film called “After Eden” playing the character part of Eden.
