On February 25th, we will formally be launching Canvas in UCC and you are cordially invited to this event. Spaces are limited to 100 however, so we will be live streaming and recording the event in case you can’t make it. Please book here if you would like to attend. On the day of the launch, all staff will be given access to Canvas for the first time. You will be able to log in to Canvas by going to https://ucc.instructure.com/ and entering your UCC credentials when prompted. When you log in, you will see an online training module that will explain how to use Canvas as well as any Semester 1 modules on which you are enrolled. Any content which was on Blackboard for those modules will be copied over to your new module. Over the course of the coming months, we will be rolling out college-specific training courses to show you how to make the best use of Canvas. The schedule of these courses has been agreed by representatives of your college who sit on the Canvas Implementation Steering Group. Times and dates for training will be announced at the launch next Monday, and on our social media and website. In addition to this training, you will also have access to a 24/7 Canvas help system where Canvas experts are waiting to answer any questions you might have about the system. They will walk you through any challenges you might face or any questions you have about the system. This Help system is also available to all students, so it should significantly reduce queries you may have previously fielded about access, assignments and so on. As well as the small group training sessions and the 24/7 support, you can also request a consultation with an Instructional Designer in the Centre for Digital Education in the Office of Vice President for Learning and Teaching. The ID will be able to advise on best practice, show you some examples of work and explore options for optimising the application of technology to your discipline. A consultation request process will be announced at the launch next Monday. Updates on development and training can be seen on canvas.ucc.ie and by following the @id_UCC twitter account. If you have any other questions, please send them to us via email@example.com. Canvas is a truly world-class VLE and we are excited by the potential it offers. We are looking forward to working with the entire UCC community in the coming years and helping to deliver an enhanced staff and student learning experience in UCC.
