Prof Marit Allern, Head of Teaching and Learning, University of Tromso in Norway, will give a talk on the effect on teaching and learning in her university that the Bologna process has had.As higher education institutions in Norway attempt to align with Bologna, and subsequent directives, the effect on student learning is being investigated. There are direct parallels with the process here in Ireland. This talk will focus on what has been done so far. The title points at the changes on a structural level which have affected teaching and student learning. This includes changes initiated both by the Government, and by local initiatives. The study at the University of Tromsø focuses on the challenges of assessment, and how revision of curricula can result in unpredictable changes in teaching and assessment.
