Lifelong Learning in Later Life: from rhetoric to reality. Presentation: As more and more adults are living longer, education and learning policies and practices must adapt to meet the needs of an ageing population. New and innovative pedagogies and teaching practices based on the needs and interests of older adults are beginning to emerge. The effervescence of these strategies have been coupled with greater emphases on inter-generational learning and community engagement. To ensure we develop appropriate strategies and ways of working we need to become more age friendly in the way we go about our business. This workshop will look at ways in which some universities are reaching out and becoming more friendly and it will discuss the importance of developing cross sectoral approaches when developing provision. It will involve presentation and active participation of participants to develop new thinking on the subject arising from on the Cork Lifelong Learning Festival.
