Dear Colleagues, We would like to invite all interested persons to a dual Fulbright talk which will take place on UCC campus: Date: Wednesday 25th of June. Time: 1:15pm-2:00pm. Venue: West Wing 9. Talk 1: Ms. Colleen Dube (Executive Director of the Irish Fulbright Commission). Title: “An Overview of the Work within the Irish Fulbright Commission”. Bio: Born in Connecticut, Colleen received a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies and Art History from Drew University in Madison, New Jersey. She relocated to Ireland in 1990 and then completed a Masters in Philosophy in Irish Studies from National University Ireland, Galway and a Masters in Business Administration from the Michael Smurfit School of Business at University College Dublin. Colleen was appointed Executive Director at the Fulbright Commission in 2006. Talk 2: Prof. Nathalis Wamba (Queens College’s, City University New York). Title: “The Positive Impact of the Fulbright Scholarship in Malawi Africa”. Bio: Prof. Wamba’s research, scholarships and many books/articles focus on the power of education to promote social justice in schools. Most recently, he served as the editor and a major contributor to Literacy and Poverty (Routledge Press, 2012), which examines how to improve schools’ responses to the needs of low-income children. Viewing the Fulbright as his “modest contribution to Africa, where he was originally from,” Wamba taught and conducted research in the education division of Mzuzu University in 2013. Prof. Wamba is currently a residing Fulbright Specialist at University College Cork to collaborate on a number existing initiatives between UCC and Mzuzu University.
