Dr Ali Khashan will present findings from his research titled "Gestational age and birthweight and the risk of childhood type 1 diabetes: a population-based cohort and sibling design study" Dr Ali Khashan was awarded his BSc (Hons) in Mathematical Sciences from Wolverhampton University in 2003, MSc in Medical Statistics from Leicester University in 2004, and PhD in Perinatal and Psychiatric Epidemiology from Manchester University in 2008. In May 2008, he joined the Louise Kenny group at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, University College Cork as a Health Research Board Postdoctoral Research Fellow. In June 2014, he was appointed a Senior Lecturer in Epidemiology and Public Health at UCC. Ali leads INFANT’s Epidemiology work programme, with several projects in the field including prenatal stress and Caesarean section studies.
