‘Studying the Origins of Ethnic Differences in Cardiovascular Disease and Type 2 Diabetes: Evidence from Studies in Children’
Peter Whincup studied medicine in Cambridge and London. After postgraduate training in general medicine and cardiology, he studied cardiovascular epidemiology with Professor Gerry Shaper at the Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine and became a director of the British Regional Heart Study, originally established by Professor Shaper. He has a particular research interest in the early development of cardiovascular and type 2 diabetes risks and for the last few years has been studying ethnic differences in chronic disease risks in childhood.
