Hands for Life - Free CPR Training

Free CPR Training - Hands for Life

The Irish Heart Foundation has an ambitious plan to train over 100,000 people in life saving skills and CPR across communities over the next two years. The ASSERT Centre and the Health & Safety Office for Student Activity, UCC are collaborating with the Irish Heart Foundation to assist with achieving this ambitious aim. Hands for Life is a community CPR training programme, which offers free CPR training to communities across Ireland, to build a nation of lifesavers. All are welcome to attend one of our training sessions - including all Staff and students and this invitation extends to all your family and friends, as the aim is train as many people as possible. The sessions will be held at the River Lee Hotel on Sunday 6th of October and Monday 7th of October. Every day in Ireland 13 people die from a cardiac arrest and around 70% of these happen at home. Unfortunately, just 6.5% of people in Ireland who have a cardiac arrest in a non- hospital setting survive. But CPR is an easy skill to learn and once you know how to do it, you could save someone's life. The course concentrates on recognising cardiac arrest, making the emergency call, listening to the call taker and knowing your Eircode. Candidates then get to practice compression-only CPR on a manikin. Awareness of how to use an AED, how to help someone who is choking, how to perform CPR on a child, recognising stroke and the difference between a cardiac arrest and a heart attack are also covered – all in only one hour and for FREE. Join us and be part of a nation of lifesavers. Book your place here for-life/
