Louise O'Keeffe v Ireland One Year On: Implications and Implementation
Speakers: Louise O’Keeffe Emily Logan, Chief Commissioner, Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission
On the first anniversary of the landmark decision of the European Court of Human Rights in O’Keeffe v Ireland, this seminar will examine the implications of the decision for child protection in Irish schools and the response of the Irish State to date. The broader significane of the case in terms of the relationship between Irish law and the European Convention on Human Rights will also be considered. This is a unique opportunity to hear from Louise O’Keeffe herself, alongside expert speakers with detailed knowledge of the case, on the question of how the fruits of her 20 year legal battle can be realised in Irish law and policy.
