Women's Studies Women's History Month Herstory Salon
Ten minutes from different speakers on a diverse range of past and present remarkable women - from engineers to activists, poets to playwrights. It promises to be an enjoyable evening.
The Women's History Month Herstory Salon will take place in the staff common room at UCC on the 20th of March. This event will give attendees the opportunity to learn about a diverse range of women from the arts and activism. UCC President, Professor Patrick O’Shea, will deliver the opening address at the event, before Dr Amy Prendergast (TCD) discusses the eighteenth-century salon in Ireland and how it played an important role in shaping literary culture. With panels dedicated to Women as Creators and Feminism in Action, speakers will include Herstory founder and director, Melanie Lynch; Dr Clíona Ó Gallchoir, UCC Women's Studies and School of English; Orla Egan, UCC Women's Studies and Cork LGBT Digital Archive; Rola Abu Zeid-O'Neill, UCC Women's Studies and ACE; Kathy D'Arcy, UCC Women's Studies and writer; Dr Liz Kiely and Dr Máire Leane, UCC Women's Studies and Applied Social Studies; Dr Róisín O'Gorman, UCC Women's Studies and Department of Drama and Theatre Studies; and Shauna McGrath, UCC MA Women's Studies student.
