Perforum presents Andrea Ainsworth The Role of the Voice Director Weds 9th Nov 6 - 7:45pm in the Theatre Development Centre, Triskel Christchurch. Andrea Ainsworth has been the Voice Director of the Abbey Theatre since 1995, working closely with both Irish and international directors on all productions in the Abbey and Peacock theatres. She has taught in drama schools in London and on the professional actor-training programme in the School of Drama, Trinity College Dublin from 1995 until 2008. She has worked with many independent theatre companies in Ireland and also coaches actors for film and TV. Andrea has adapted and directed three plays for children in the Peacock Theatre: The Wolf of Winter - adapted from a story by Paula Meehan, Sisters and Brothers - adapted from stories by Marina Carr and Jim Nolan, Swans, Boots and Boxes - adapted from a story by Dermot Healy, Eugene McCabe & Elish Ni Dhuibhne. She has also devised and directed several Poetry Evenings in the Abbey and Peacock Theatres with musical director Paul Keenan. She teaches Shakespeare workshops for a variety of groups and has recently completed a new series of 'Speaking Shakespeare' for the Arts in Junior Cycle English. In 2004 she received bursaries from Facing Forward and the Arts Council of Ireland to pursue training in the Feldenkrais Technique with Francois Combeau at the Espace du Temps Present in Paris. She also offers classes and bespoke voice and communication workshops for a variety of groups, including actors, TV presenters, business clients, writers, barristers, lecturers, members of the public, and community groups.
