Edmund Spenser on the Munster Plantation

Public lecture on the poet Edmund Spenser and sixteenth-century Cork

A public lecture by Professor Andrew Hadfield (University of Sussex), the first biographer of the Cork-based Renaissance poet, Edmund Spenser, in over sixty years. The lecture will be given in the grounds of the Elizabeth Fort on Barrack Street in order to forge links between the literary and archaeological remainders of our cultural heritage. Professor Hadfield will speak to a general audience about Edmund Spenser and his places and experiences here in Cork in the late sixteenth-century. The lecture is supported by the Cork City Heritage Plan: admission is free and all are welcome.
