Eminent Irish Studies scholar, Professor Margot Gayle Backus, of University of Houston, currently a Fulbright Scholar in Queen's University Belfast, and author of The Gothic Family Romance: Heterosexuality, Child Sacrifice and the Anglo-Irish Colonial Order as well as Scandal Work: James Joyce, the New Journalism, and the Home Rule Newspaper Wars, will speak on James Joyce: “That’s what ruins children”: Open Secrets and Coded Confession in “Ivy Day in the Committee Room” and “Grace”. 16 March, 2 pm, ORB 2.02
