Museums Without Borders, School of History Research Seminar

Eamon McEneaney (Waterford Museum of Treasures) will deliver a paper to the School of History Research Seminar: ‘Museums Beyond Borders’.

This paper will focus upon approaches to making history and archaeology accessible and intelligible to the wider community and the challenges facing museums as they attempt to do so. Eamon McEneaney has been Director of the Waterford Museum of Treasures and Curator of Reginald’s Tower Museum in Waterford since 1999. In 2008 he was appointed Project Manager of the €11 million Viking Triangle Project which saw development of three new museums in the historic city centre and the revitalisation of the site of the original Viking settlement. From 2003 to 2006 he was a member of the board of the heritage Council of Ireland and from 2007 has been a member of the board of the National Museum of Ireland.
