Lunchtime Seminar on China-Rights, Resistance & Repression

Front Line Defenders in association with UCC School of Asian Studies invite you to “China - Rights, Resistance & Repression” with Dr. Teng Biao Chinese lawyer and human rights defender

All are invited to hear Chinese lawyer and human-rights advocate Teng Biao speak in UCC this Thursday, 12 March, at 1.00 in West Wing 6, Main Quadrangle. Teng Biao is one of China’s leading lawyer-activists whose clients include some of the most marginalised and vulnerable people in Chinese society. This is a very rare opportunity to hear from someone with his record as a rights defender in China, as so few are now allowed to travel abroad. 2014 has been called the worst year ever for lawyers in China, and the list of lawyers disbarred, detained or “disappeared” for practising their profession is a disturbingly long one. If you are interested in China, or in human rights, the law and access to justice, please join us on Thursday to hear from Dr Teng.
