Women and the Gaelic League
Seminar on Women and the Gaelic League with Dr Renée Tosser, Université de la Réunion. Dr Tosser is a sociocultural historian of Ireland’s revolutionary period 1890 – 1922.
Historian Gerda Lerner said: “Everything that explains the world has in fact explained a world that does not exist, a world in which men are at the center of the human enterprise and women are at the margin "helping" them. Such a world does not exist —never has.” Historians who focus on women work to address that imbalance.Thursday's seminar, hosted by Women's Studies, will be given by cultural historian De Renée Tosser and will look at the involvement of women in the Gaelic League.
