UCC PhD Research Showcase
The showcase is a new initiative created to recognise the research achievements of UCC's 1,200 doctoral research students, giving them a unique opportunity to communicate their research to a public, non specialist audienceThe UCC Doctoral Showcase is a new initiative to recognise the research achievements of our 1,000 doctoral research students, at which these students have been invited to showcase their talent and research potential by communicating their research to a public audience. UCC is the first University to hold such an event, and there will be presentations in two categories on June 3rd: oral presentations and posters with prizes for the winner in each category. The principal aim of the event is to encourage PhD students to think of innovative ways to communicate their research to non-specialists and to showcase the research they are undertaking, in areas ranging from the detection of seizures in new-born babies to wave energy. In addition, this is an opportunity for students to demonstrate the skills they have acquired, both through their research projects, and also through new courses specifically developed to support research students in areas such as commercialisation skills, communication and innovation.
