Professor Ziga Turk holds the Chair in Construction Informatics at the University of Ljubljana. In 2007/08 Dr Turk was Minister for Growth and in 2013/14 Minister for Education in Slovenia

Engineering is not only by the term "civil" very much related to civilisation as a whole. Civil engineers have been creating the infrastructures of society, places to live and work etc. The world that the engineers are creating is undergoing major changes, historic in the sense that their impact is deep and occurrence rare. They include increasing abundance as a result of computerisation and automation, globalization, energy revolution and the challenge of climate change. In addition the digital revolution is changing the very fabric of society. In the lecture the global shifts will be described and their impact on the construction industry in general and opportunities of construction IT in particular will be addressed. This is the first in the Series which takes place each Wednesday in November and from 21 January to 11 March 2015.
